Want to plan your whole year by the light of the Moon? The full moon 2027 calendar gives you 12 bright checkpoints. There’s a supermoon in January, three subtle lunar eclipses, a rare back-to-back pair of Scorpio full moons in the spring, and a sneaky seasonal Blue Moon that most calendars miss. Below you’ll find every date and time in Eastern and Pacific time, the zodiac sign each full moon lands in, its traditional folk name, and what it means for you, so you can treat 2027 like a cosmic planner rather than a guessing game. 🌙
Every date and degree here is calculated from the ephemeris (the astronomer’s table of planetary positions), not copied from a generic almanac. So when we say the Hunter’s Moon sits right on top of Saturn, we checked. Bookmark this page. You’ll come back to it all year.
How Many Full Moons Are in 2027?

There are 12 full moons in 2027, one in every calendar month. That means there is no monthly Blue Moon in 2027 (no month gets two full moons). But there is a seasonal Blue Moon. Spring 2027 runs from the March 20 equinox to the June 21 solstice and holds four full moons instead of the usual three, so by the traditional almanac rule the third of them, the May 20 Flower Moon, is a seasonal Blue Moon. (Some calendars floating around online say 2027 has 13 full moons. It doesn’t. The next full moon after December 13, 2027 isn’t until January 11, 2028.)
Here’s the quick snapshot:
- First full moon of 2027: the Wolf Moon in Leo, January 22 at 7:17am EST. It’s also the year’s biggest and brightest supermoon.
- Last full moon of 2027: the Cold Moon in Gemini, December 13 at 11:08am EST.
- Lunar eclipses: three penumbral eclipses, on February 20, July 18 and August 17.
- Harvest Moon: September 15, in Pisces.
- Seasonal Blue Moon: May 20, the Flower Moon in Scorpio (the third of spring’s four full moons).
- The twist: two full moons in a row fall in Scorpio (April 20 and May 20), and no full moon falls in Cancer all year.
Why does a “normal” year still have quirks like that? A lunar cycle (new moon to new moon) lasts about 29.5 days. In that time the Sun moves only about 29 degrees around the zodiac, slightly less than one full sign. So each full moon lands about a degree earlier in its sign than the one before. In 2027 you can watch it happen. The year opens with full moons at 2° of their signs and closes with them at 21°. Somewhere in the middle, the full moon slips back across a sign boundary, and that’s how Scorpio ends up hosting two in a row. The folk names come from the traditional North American names popularized by the Old Farmer’s Almanac. September’s full moon takes the name “Harvest Moon” because it’s the full moon closest to the fall equinox (September 23, 2027). Readers in the UK and Europe should add 5 hours to Eastern time (or 4 during the few weeks when US and UK daylight saving dates don’t match). Readers in Australia should check whether the date rolls over to the next day.
Every 2027 Full Moon Explained, Month by Month

A full moon is the monthly culmination point. The Sun lights up one sign while the Moon sits fully illuminated in the opposite sign. Emotions surface, situations come to a head, and whatever you started at the new moon about two weeks earlier shows you what it’s become. For a deeper look at the energy itself, read our full moon meaning guide. Here’s what each of 2027’s twelve brings.
January 22: Wolf Moon in Leo (Supermoon)
2027 opens with a roar. This is the closest full moon of the year, only about 222,000 miles (357,644 km) from Earth and less than a day after lunar perigee, so it will look noticeably big and bright. The Moon lights up generous, warm-hearted Leo while the Sun sits in Aquarius right beside Pluto. The theme is your heart versus the crowd. Where have you been shrinking to fit in? A soothing trine to Neptune in Aries softens the drama and helps you dream bravely. Best for: creative projects, love declarations, and letting yourself be seen.
February 20: Snow Moon in Virgo (Penumbral Lunar Eclipse)
The Snow Moon is a penumbral eclipse, and it lands almost exactly on top of Mars, which is retrograde in Virgo. That makes it a powerful full moon for sorting, healing and releasing. Mercury is also retrograde (it stationed on February 9), so old conversations and unfinished paperwork may resurface. This is a friendly moment to finally clear them. A tight square to Uranus in Gemini adds an element of surprise. Best for: health resets, decluttering, dropping perfectionism.
March 22: Worm Moon in Libra
Two days after the spring equinox, the first full moon of spring falls at the very start of Libra. The Sun is traveling alongside Neptune in Aries, so it’s a dreamy, idealistic full moon focused on relationships. It asks whether the balance in your partnerships is real or just hoped for. A helpful trine from Uranus in Gemini opens room for honest, refreshing conversations. Best for: relationship check-ins, beauty rituals, making peace.
April 20: Pink Moon in Scorpio
The Sun enters Taurus at 3:20am EDT, and that evening the Moon turns full at the first degree of Scorpio. It’s the first of 2027’s two Scorpio full moons. Mars turned direct on April 1 and Jupiter on April 12, both in Leo, so the cosmic gas pedal is finally unstuck. Use this moon to get honest about trust, intimacy and what you truly value. Best for: deep conversations, shadow work, financial honesty.
May 20: Flower Moon in Scorpio (Seasonal Blue Moon)
Scorpio again, this time at its very last degree (29°). Astrologers call the 29th degree the “anaretic” degree, a point of culmination and closure. Whatever April’s Scorpio moon stirred up, May’s resolves. It’s also a seasonal Blue Moon, the third of four full moons this spring, which adds to the sense of a rare, once-in-a-while turning point. Venus is in her home sign of Taurus, which keeps things sensual and grounding rather than heavy. Best for: endings, forgiveness, cord-cutting, and celebrating how far you’ve come.
June 18: Strawberry Moon in Sagittarius
One of the most optimistic full moons of the year. The Sagittarius Moon forms a fire grand trine with Saturn in Aries and Jupiter in Leo, three fire signs in flowing harmony. Big dreams get practical legs. Mercury is retrograde in Cancer (since June 10), so review travel plans and contracts twice. Best for: vision boards, planning trips, committing to a long-term goal, faith.
July 18: Buck Moon in Capricorn (Penumbral Eclipse + Micromoon)
This is the farthest full moon of 2027, a “micromoon” about 252,000 miles (405,979 km) away. It’s also a very faint penumbral eclipse. Saturn in Aries squares the Capricorn Moon closely, putting the work-versus-home question front and center. It feels serious, but it’s useful. Jupiter is in its last days in Leo before entering Virgo on July 26, so this is your moment to finish the chapter Jupiter opened in 2026. Best for: setting boundaries, career resets, honoring responsibilities without martyrdom.
August 17: Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius (Penumbral Lunar Eclipse)
The last eclipse of 2027 arrives just two weeks after the dramatic total solar eclipse of August 2 in Leo. The Moon in Aquarius opposes the Sun and Venus together in Leo, so the pull between love and freedom, or “me” and “we,” is impossible to ignore. A supportive sextile from Saturn (which turned retrograde on August 9) helps you find a mature middle ground. Best for: friendships, community projects, redefining what freedom means in love.
September 15: Harvest Moon in Pisces
The Harvest Moon falls in compassionate, intuitive Pisces, opposite a Virgo Sun now joined by Jupiter in Virgo. On the same day Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini, so expect sudden insights and gut feelings you’ll want to write down. It’s a beautifully spiritual full moon for gathering in what you’ve grown this year. Best for: meditation, gratitude, dreamwork, creative surrender.
October 15: Hunter’s Moon in Aries
The Hunter’s Moon sits right next to Saturn in Aries, so this is the “grown-up warrior” full moon. Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio (October 7 to 28), and Mars moves into Sagittarius that same evening. Courage meets discipline. Ask yourself where you need to lead your own life instead of waiting for permission. Best for: bold but well-planned moves, fitness commitments, self-leadership.
November 13: Beaver Moon in Taurus
One of the sweetest full moons of 2027. The Taurus Moon forms a nearly exact trine with Jupiter in Virgo, a classic earth-sign blessing for money, security and steady progress. It’s a lovely full moon for gratitude and tending your resources before the holidays. (Note the Eastern date: November 13 in the US, but already November 14 in UTC.) Best for: money rituals, home comforts, self-worth work.
December 13: Cold Moon in Gemini
The year closes with a curious, chatty Gemini full moon opposite the Sun and Mercury together in Sagittarius. A precise sextile to Saturn helps turn your scattered thoughts into a clear plan for 2028. Neptune turns direct on December 15 and Saturn on December 23, so the fog of the past few months lifts. Best for: journaling the lessons of 2027, honest conversations, learning something new.
The 2027 Lunar Eclipses: February 20, July 18 and August 17

Three of 2027’s full moons are penumbral lunar eclipses. That means the Moon passes through Earth’s outer, fainter shadow (the penumbra) instead of the dark inner shadow. Astronomically, they’re subtle. You may notice only a slight smoky dimming on one side of the Moon, and the July 18 eclipse barely grazes the shadow at all. Astrologically, though, eclipses are the “plot twists” of the year, and their themes play out for months.
- February 20, Virgo: sits right on top of Mars retrograde. It’s about your body, routines and work habits. What needs fixing, and what just needs forgiving?
- July 18, Capricorn: squared by Saturn. It’s about ambition, authority and responsibility. Which commitments still deserve your energy?
- August 17, Aquarius: opposite the Sun and Venus. It’s about love, community and individuality. How do you stay yourself inside a relationship or group?
These lunar eclipses are paired with two solar eclipses, both at new moons. The first is an annular “ring of fire” eclipse on February 6 at 17° Aquarius, visible from parts of South America and Africa. The second is the much-anticipated total solar eclipse of August 2 at 9° Leo, which crosses southern Spain, North Africa and the Middle East, with more than six minutes of totality near Luxor, Egypt. Neither solar eclipse is visible from the US, but you’ll feel their themes no matter where you live. Eclipses arrive in seasons. Think of February as the Leo–Aquarius and Virgo–Pisces chapter, and July–August as the Leo–Aquarius story coming to its peak.

The Double Scorpio Full Moons of April and May 2027

Most years each sign gets one full moon. In 2027, Scorpio gets two in a row, and Cancer gets none.
Here’s why. On April 20, the full moon lands at 0°36′ Scorpio, only hours after the Sun enters Taurus. A month later, on May 20, the full moon has slipped back almost a full degree, to 29°13′ Scorpio, while the Sun is still in the last degree of Taurus (it enters Gemini early the next morning). So the entire Taurus season is bracketed by Scorpio full moons, one at the very first degree and one at the very last.
Emotionally, think of it as a two-part story:
- Part one (April 20), the opening: something intimate or hidden surfaces. It could be a truth about a relationship, a money pattern, or a feeling you’ve been avoiding.
- Part two (May 20), the resolution: you decide what to do with it. The anaretic 29th degree has a “now or never” feel. This is the moment to release, forgive or transform.
If you’re a Scorpio, a Taurus, or have big placements in either sign, these two months are your emotional deep dive of the year. If Scorpio energy is new to you, our guide to the Moon in Scorpio explains why this sign makes everything feel so intense, and why that intensity is ultimately healing.
And what about Cancer, the Moon’s own sign? The full moons on either side of 2027 both fall in Cancer: December 23, 2026 and January 11, 2028. 2027 slips right between them, so if you’re a Cancer, your lunar spotlight this year comes from the Capricorn eclipse moon on July 18 instead.
How to Work With Each Full Moon in 2027

You don’t need an elaborate altar to work with the full moon. Here’s a simple four-step practice you can repeat all twelve times this year. It takes 15 minutes or less.
- Look back two weeks. What did you start, intend or worry about at the last new moon? Our new moon rituals guide shows how to set those intentions in the first place.
- Name what’s ripe. Write down one thing that has come to fruition and one thing that’s ready to go.
- Use the sign’s cue. Match your ritual to the month’s sign. For example, a gratitude list for Taurus, a heart-to-heart for Libra, or a bold “yes” for Aries. The “Best for” notes above are your cheat sheet.
- Release and rest. Burn or tear up the list of what’s going, drink a glass of water, and get some sleep. Full moons are for clearing space, not starting new projects.

Full Moon 2027 FAQ

When is the first full moon of 2027?
The first full moon of 2027 is the Wolf Moon in Leo on Friday, January 22, at 7:17am EST (4:17am PST). It’s also the year’s closest supermoon.
Is there a Blue Moon in 2027?
Only by the seasonal definition. 2027 has exactly 12 full moons, one per month, so there’s no monthly Blue Moon (two full moons in one calendar month). But spring 2027 holds four full moons (March 22, April 20, May 20 and June 18), and the third of four in a season is traditionally called a Blue Moon. That makes the May 20 Flower Moon in Scorpio 2027’s seasonal Blue Moon.
Are there any supermoons in 2027?
Yes. The January 22 Wolf Moon is the standout. It occurs less than a day after perigee at about 357,644 km, making it the closest and brightest full moon of the year. February’s Snow Moon is also fairly close to Earth. At the other extreme, July’s Buck Moon is the year’s micromoon, the most distant full moon of 2027.
When is the Harvest Moon in 2027?
The Harvest Moon is on September 15, 2027, at 7:03pm EDT, in Pisces. It’s the full moon closest to the September 23 fall equinox.
When is the last full moon of 2027?
The Cold Moon in Gemini on Monday, December 13, at 11:08am EST.
Will there be a lunar eclipse in 2027?
Yes, three penumbral lunar eclipses: February 20 (Virgo), July 18 (Capricorn) and August 17 (Aquarius). They’re subtle to the eye, but astrologically meaningful. There is no total lunar eclipse in 2027.
Which full moon of 2027 is the most powerful?
It depends on your chart, but astrologically the standouts are the January 22 supermoon (emotional intensity), the February 20 eclipse sitting on Mars (a strong release point), and the May 20 Scorpio full moon at the anaretic 29th degree (a turning point). Your personal power moons are listed by sign above.
How long does full moon energy last?
Most astrologers work with roughly three days: the day before, the day of, and the day after the exact full moon. Eclipse energy is said to unfold over the following six months.
Final Thoughts: Let 2027’s Full Moons Light Your Way
The full moon 2027 calendar tells a clear story. You don’t have to catch every one perfectly. Just pause at each one, notice what has ripened, and let go of what’s done.
